2025 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sports Awards: Celebrating Excellence, Unity, and Resilience in Indigenous Sports

- Aug 1, 2025 -

The National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Sports Awards return on Saturday, 15 November 2025, at Howard Smith Wharves in Meanjin (Brisbane) – and the organisers are calling on organisations across Australia to help elevate the event through sponsorship.

Presented by the National Indigenous Sports Foundation and managed by the Indigenous Sports Network, the Awards are the nation’s premier celebration of First Nations sporting excellence. The event will honour outstanding contributions across 13 categories, from elite athletes and junior stars to community-led organisations and volunteers.

With past winners including Cathy Freeman OAM, Patty Mills, Ashleigh Gardner, Walgett Aboriginal Connection, and Rumbalara Football Netball Club, the event brings together some of the most influential names and future leaders in Australian sport.

“This event represents more than just individual achievements,” said Nathan Lovett-Murray, event manager and Indigenous Sports Network Managing Director. “It’s about legacy, visibility, and giving back to the communities that have shaped our sporting identity.”
